A few weeks ago Babashri gave a lecture on why he wants to set up a camp at the next Kumbh Mela Bhetak in Vrindaban. This is a very brief synopsis….

Prior to each Kumbh mela, saints and sadhus gather in Vrindaban, as a gesture of respect to Vrindaban, to pray and pay homage to Vrindavan. For the first time, Maan Mandir is going to take part, by setting up a camp in Vrindaban.

The primary reason for this is create awareness of the degradation of Braj, and promote service to Braj. Millions of people visit Braj each year, yet they are not aware that service to Braj is the highest form of devotion. Merely visiting holy places, and doing darshan is not enough, and we need to make the public aware of this.

Braj’s holy sites are being destroyed. Yamuna river has become poisonous, forests are being cut, village lakes are dilapidated. Without service, devotion is not devotion. Only a devotee wants to do service. The devotees who have served Braj in the past have gained fame as a result of this. Bharti sanskriti(Indian culture) teaches us to come together, and gain knowledge. Prahlad Maharaj himself said he did not want to attain salvation alone, he wanted to help others as well. So, we need to gather everyone together, and do service to Braj.

In Bhakt Mal there is the example of a devotee named Seema, who was alone called upon to protect Dwarka. Lord Krishna gave Seema the opportunity to do service, this same opportunity is being given to us, yet we are ignoring it.

Babashri then gives the example of when Lord Krishna’s great grandson Vajrnabh and Prakshit Maharaj were discussing service to Braj. Vajranabh was explaining to Prakshit Maharaj, that he doesn’t need protection, he just serve Braj. Vajranabh said he didn’t get to see Braj Leela, but called upon someone who had. At that time they called, Chandalye Rishi. As Chandalye Rishi came he said first learn what Braj is, this enchanted holy land, where Radha Rani lives. I will tell you where Barsana, Nandgaon is. You should search out all these places, according to Krishna leela. This is a genuine seva of Shri Radha Krishna. In each village different past times took place. Make Giriraji , Nand gaon, Barsana appear, tell the world where Radharani lived. You are Krishna’s great grandson. Don’t do service assuming that this is an ordinary place. This is an auspicious place, and with my blessing you will find all the past time places.

A holy land is auspicious, service to this land is true service. We are ignorant and can’t understand this seva. When you do services to Braj you will meet Udhavjij, upon whom Radharani herself gave her blessings. Go find these places. Vajarnabh left there, and promptly started service of Braj. He established for holy sites, Govind Dev, Hari Dev, Keshav Dev, and Hari Dev. He named the forests, and all other holy sites, kunds, lakes.

Today the state is that the holy sites are being destroyed, mountains are being blasted, Yamuna River is poisonous. We are dead. During kumb mela ki bhetak, a lot of important saints and sadhus will be here, There is no harm in asking them for help.

Arzi humari, marzi tumhari. It is with this thought that Maan mandir is taking this action. If we don’t do it who will?

When Bhagirath told Mother Ganga that she was to come to this earth. She was very disturbed, that there are so many sinners, and they will all bathe in her, polluting her. Bhagirath responded, that there will also be saints who are so pure that they purify holy sites. When these saints bathe in you, you will be fine.

A true saint is one who does dham seva. We are pursuing this. I am going to plea to the saints and sadhu’s telling them, that is because of my sins that this destructive state of Braj exists, and with their blessings, we can help make it pure again.
