Bring Yamuna Back To Braj

Early this year, at the point in northern India where the Yamuna River empties into the Ganges, several hundred people set out on a six-week protest march. They were aiming to gather strength in numbers en route to New Delhi, the national capital, halfway up the Yamuna River. The river itself was the subject of their protest, and the popular chant was “Yamuna Bachao, Pollution Bhagao!”—meaning “Save the Yamuna, Stop the Pollution!”

All it needs is a Political Will - Public Will - YOUR WILL.

The river Yamuna is one of the two biggest rivers (other being Ganges) which flow through the world’s largest river basin- The Ganga river Basin. This basin area is approximately 1,086,000 square kilometers and has a population of 500 million. This area is also the land to one of the most ancient civilization known.

I came Bombay in the morning with Sanjeev Jindal to attend ISKCON Juhu temple 'Save Yamuna Programs'. Temple president 'Braj Hari Prabhu' arranged everything with the weeping heart for Yamuna Ji. Since morning to evening I addressed 4 huge meetings in Juhu ISKCON temple in front of thousands of devotees. Many many devotees are attached with this issue now 'by heart'. Very successful it was.

All the devotees joined 'Save Yamuna Nagar Sankeertan' from Juhu temple to Juhu temple via Juhu beach. It took almost 1 hour. Very much inspiring it was.

Every year hundreds of thousands of devotees participate in Janmashtami celebration through out India and abroad. It is a perfect opportunity spread the awareness about the yamuna ji issue. We have been working with major organizations in Delhi Mumbai, Kolkata, and Mathura that host large scale Janmashtami celebrations. They are very supportive of the idea and have been helping us to organize the event. There are so many events taking place in one day at a time that we are falling short of the number of the volunteers needed to support the campaign.
